Vocal Warmups

My throat has always bothered me, and it seems my voice can jump an octave from day to day. I’m on a constant quest to improve it (not for singing, but some of the exercises will seem awfully familiar).

Sources will be provided when available or remembered.

Getting those muscles limbered:

Let’s not kid ourselves – the voice is a muscle (at least in the fact that it’s only around because of the compression of the diaphragm, the resonance of the chest, the contracting vibrations of the throat, the direction of the tongue and lips). Like before any good set of exercises at the gym, we need a good warmup to get the muscles limbered and ready.

  1. Hum with the lips
  2. Hum with the throat
